Biographical Summary
Dr. Jose R. Rodríguez Vega, FACS, FABTS is Cardiothoracic Surgeon with over 25 years of experience. Dr. Rodríguez Vega studied a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at Cornell University in Ithaca , New York . He later completed a medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and followed with a General Surgery Residency at the University District Hospital and VA Medical Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he also became Chief Resident.
He continued with a fellowship in Thoracic Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Additionally, he completed a Cardiothoracic Residency at Hahnemann University Hospital and Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children also in Philadelphia. He was Chief Resident of his Cardiothoracic Residency. He is board certified in Thoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Rodríguez Vega was named America’s Top Surgeons in 2009, 2010, 2014, and 2015 due to his surgical quality standards with one of the lowest mortality and morbidity rates.
